TAT activates Tourism Crisis Monitoring Centre

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has activated the Tourism Crisis Monitoring Centre to monitor escalating tensions in the Middle East and coordinate immediate assistance for travellers affected by flight disruptions. The centre functions as an integrated operations hub, consolidating intelligence, assessing potential impacts, and working with relevant agencies to support affected passengers.

Short Game Practice Green – Have You Tried It Yet?

We officially opened our new short game practice green near the Golf Villa in December, but some members may not yet have discovered it — so this is a small reminder.

This large, three-level green was designed specifically for chipping and putting practice. It is not meant for long pitching shots — the maximum distance is around 10 yards — making it ideal for working on touch from just a few steps off the green.

The different tiers allow you to practice:
• Low chip-and-run shots
• Landing the ball on specific shelves
• Uphill and downhill putts
• Breaking putts across levels
• Short-pressure putts inside 6 feet

These are exactly the shots that influence your score the most.

Even 15–20 minutes here before your round can sharpen your feel around the greens and build confidence with the putter.

A small request: please repair pitch marks, rotate your practice spots, and help us keep the area in excellent condition for everyone.

If you haven’t visited yet, we encourage you to give it a try this month.

Mountain Course Renovation – Work Commencing March 16th

As previously announced, the Mountain Course (A Course) will close from March 16th, 2026 for its major renovation program.

With the start date now approaching, preparations are underway to begin the upgrade works that will significantly enhance long-term playing conditions and overall course quality.

The project includes a full fairway turf upgrade, improvements to approach areas, additional tree pruning to improve sunlight and airflow, and other refinements designed to enhance playability and course presentation.

This renovation represents an important investment in the future of the Mountain Course and will bring it in line with the standards of the B and C Courses.

During this period, play will continue on the remaining courses with a B-to-C rotation.

We sincerely appreciate your continued support and understanding as this important improvement program gets underway.

Springfield Ambassador Player Profile – Matt Killen

Matt Killen, born in Durham, England, is one of our Springfield Ambassadors competing on the international professional circuit.

He began playing golf at around 12 or 13 years old and later moved to the United States to attend Newberry College in South Carolina, where he competed in collegiate golf before turning professional in 2014.

Since then, Matt has competed across Asia on the Asian Tour, Asian Development Tour, All Thailand Golf Tour, and the China Tour. He currently holds full playing status on both the Asian Tour and the China Tour and is ranked 692 in the Official World Golf Ranking. His record includes multiple top-five finishes and a win on the Asian Development Tour.

In the coming weeks, Matt’s schedule includes the Guangdong Open at Huamei Luhu Golf Club on the China Tour, followed by the Hainan Classic at Mission Hills Golf Club (Blackstone Course) on the DP World Tour, and then the International Series Japan at Caledonian Golf Club on the Asian Tour.

Matt will represent Springfield on tour throughout the season. We wish him every success and encourage members to follow his progress on the official tour websites and ranking platforms.
